Jenny Aitken ARSMA graduated from UCW Aberystwyth 1997 with a BA joint Honours in Art and Art History. In 2006, she was a finalist in the Artist Magazine Awards and in 2008, voted Derbyshire Artist of the Year. Since then Jenny has exhibited all over the Uk and won several awards, most recently the Artist Exhibition Prize and the Claire Fontaine award in AOTY 2020. She exhibited with the RSMA in 2019, was highly commended in The Artist 2019 and Festival choice in the 2019 Buxton Spa prize.
Jenny lives in Derbyshire, not far from the beautiful Peak District. She has strong family routes and connections to Cornwall and the Channel Islands, and a love for the sea, “the sea is in my blood and the coast remains the primary inspiration for my painting.”
Jenny works in oils, both in studio and direct from the landscape. In 2021 she became an associate member of the Royal Society of Marine Artists (ARSMA).
