A Giclee is an individually produced, high resolution, high fidelity, reproduction done on a special large format printer. They are produced from digital scans of existing artwork. These Giclees are printed on 300lb artists acid free watercolour grade paper.
Giclees are superior to traditional lithography in nearly every way. The colours are brighter, last longer, and are so high resolution that they are virtually ‘continuous tone’ rather than tiny dots. The range of colour for Giclees is far beyond that of lithography, and the details are crisper. Hence they are commonly found in Museums and Art Galleries worldwide.
